New ISO/IEC 12207:2008

The 2008 version of ISO/IEC 12207 has been released. This new version of 12207 is the first step that ISO/IEC is taking to fully harmonized ISO/IEC 12207 with ISO/IEC 15288 System life cycle processes standard.

Lima Peru, WG 7 Meeting

WG 7 met in Lima, Peru 9 November to 13, 2009. At the meeting their was 23 delegates from nine countries and three liaison organization.

The highlights were:

  • Guide - ISO/IEC TR 15271 Guide for ISO/IEC 12207 and ISO/IEC TR 19760 Guide for ISO/IEC 15288 will become ISO/IEC TR 24748.
    • Document ISO/IEC 24748 “Systems and software engineering - Guide for life cycle management” is divided into the following parts:
    • Part 1 ”Guide for life cycle management”-ECD of publication first quarter of 2010
    • Part 2 “Guide for ISO/IEC 15288 (System Life Cycle Processes)” to replace ISO/IEC TR 19760:1998, updated to reflect the changes in ISO/IEC. 15288:2008 and according to the terms of reference defined in WG 7 N1128. ECD of publication second quarter of 2010
    • Part 3 “Guide for ISO/IEC 12207 (Software Life Cycle Processes)” to replace ISO/IEC TR 15271:1998, updated to reflect the changes in ISO/IEC 12207:2008 and according to the terms of reference defined in WG 7. N1129. ECD of publication third quarter of 2010
  • New quality standard - ISO/IEC 15026 System and Software Assurance is design as a four part document.
    • Part 1 Concept and vocabulary
    • Part 2 Assurance cases
    • Part 3 System integrity levels
    • Part 4 Assurance in the life cycle
    • Release date is probably mid 2010
  • PM standard -ISO/IEC 16326 Project Management is schedule for release mid 2010
  • Requirement Engineering Standard ISO/IEC 29148. ECD of publication second quarter 0f 2010
  • The Integration/Harmonization of IEE 1220 with ISO/IEC/15288 - Project assigned to a study group with a path ahead for this project by the first quarter of 2010
  • Commence work on a new V and V standard for system and software
